My love of fashion starts from late 90s
My name is Aaron Lu, the founder of Aaronlook fashion accessory, my Chinese Name is Lu Hanghai, why I use Aaron for my English name, it came from my Idol-Aaron Kwok, a Hongkong singer,dancer and actor,is known as King Of Stage and fashion icon In China. His stylish hair and clothing style has been impacting young people since 90s. My love of fashion also originated from him.
The journey behind creating Aaronlook fashion accessory
Early working experience since 2009
Upon a recommendation, I ventured to Tonglu and started my career as an export sales representative in a small medium-sized factory specializing in knitted fashion accessories. It was my first job after graduation from the college and I wholeheartedly immersed myself into this position. In just a few short years, I gained a profound understanding of knitting accessory products and the industry through continuous learning, exploration, and valuable customer feedback. Interacting with clients from different countries also fueled my passion for international trade and foreign cultures. Meanwhile, I fell in love with the yarn, scarves, hats, and those knitted things.
Tonglu County- The famous Knitting Town
I have to mention the place where I found my passion: Tonglu, a county belonging to Hangzhou City in Zhejiang Province, Tonglu Hengcun Town is the place where my company was located and I lived there for several years at that time, it is known as China’s famous knitting town, with nearly 40 years concentration and development history of knitting and yarn industry, nowadays, Hengcun town serves as a production, exporting and processing base for so-called knitted three small pieces (scarves, hats, gloves) and knitting sweaters in China, with a complete industrial chain. Up to now, there are around 682 knitting enterprises and over 1,400 individual businesses in Hengcun Town, with an annual output value of nearly 7 billion yuan. The products have been exported to over 50 countries worldwide.
Personal performance
After several years of working in the industry, I acquired valuable experience in dealing with international customers and understanding how to contribute to their business success, at the same time, I also generated doubled sales revenue for the company and awarded the best operator in Tonglu Area from Alibaba,the world’s largest B2B platform.
Industry Observation of knitting accessories
During this time, I also observed that many factories heavily rely on foreign trade companies for exporting their knitted products. These factories often lack competent export sales and operation teams and primarily focus on OEM orders. The majority of their product designs came from existing customers, lacking uniqueness and personal touch, they just made minor alterations to yarn colors and combinations or simply follow customers’ sample-making instructions, resulting in a limited product selections and weak innovation ability.
The Seed of Aaronlook
This situation prompted me to consider leveraging the benefits of the industrial cluster and supply chain to consolidate excellent product resources so that I could offer the latest knitting designs and share trend information with customers, more importantly, I did really expect that I could bring something more than just mass-produced products and provide professional suggestion and efficient service. As a result, Aaronlook was born—it feels like a small seed of a dream that ignites my passion for establishing my own fashion brand and selling abroad.
